Tips for Staying Healthy Throughout the Busy Season

Here at SYED, we have talked a lot about  creating a healthier lifestyle at home and work.  As we dive right into our busy season, we are making better choices and changing in the ways we operate during these extremely busy weeks. It's easy to fall into bad habits when time is crunched.  We are trying new ways not to fall into those bad habits and working on keeping a healthy mind, healthy body, and healthy life.

I wanted to provide you with some tips that we try to use on site, in the studio or at home to stay healthy in mind and body.

Tip 1: Keeping hydrated throughout the day. It is easy to forget to drink water throughout an event, especially when there is limited time for execution. We make a conscious effort to make sure we have water, Gatorade, coconut water, anything to keep hydrated with us at all times. Bring a cooler filled with waters to each event.  Just knowing you have water can produce more of an effort to actually drink water throughout the day.

When your body is becoming dehydrated, you can become more lethargic, slow, and your muscles could cramp up. Not an ideal situation when you have to build out centerpieces, stages, dance floors, backdrops, lighting in a specific time frame.

Tip 2: Stretching and breathing techniques.  The build outs and installations we at SYED create are usually heavy and bulky.  Centerpieces and other decor elements also carry a specific and rather heavy weight.  Stretching helps loosen the muscles and prepare your body for a increase in exertion. We do not want anyone to get hurt, stretching can reduce the risk of pulling muscles or straining your body.  Breathing relaxes and produces more oxygen throughout the body which can also help prepare your body for challenges throughout the day

Tip 3: Conscious effort to get more sleep.  Sleep can sometimes feel like less of a priority when you are so busy,  but the more sleep you can get will only benefit you throughout the week.  Your body will be rested and ready to work to your highest ability.

Tip 4: Positive thinking, positive affirmations, positive working environment.  This is probably one of our most stressed actions at work.  We try not to use words with negative connotations.  We want the work day to be enjoyable and rewarding for everyone.  Creating high and positive energy can affect the dynamics of our group and our interactions with other vendors. Bringing positive energy to event days can only set us up for success!!

Try to keep hydrated and healthy this year! Even the smallest efforts to make positive changes in your daily life can really make a difference to your level of happiness in your work and life.

SYED Featured on Style Me Pretty

Check out our feature on Style Me Pretty's blog today!  Cory and Anne's wedding, located at the newly restored LA Athletic Club was everything chique and intimate.  The ceremony, which was held on the rooftop of LA Athletic Club provided an all encompassing view of downtown Los Angeles.  For their ceremony decor, we created a structured detailed with over sized white paper flowers.  Reception held special details  of the couples travel experiences and  favorite foods!  We created dream like baby's breath centerpieces, which were topped on beautiful candle stands provided by Modern LA Weddings. Gorgeous images provided by Jasmine Star Photography

SYED New Services

A new year, calls for new services! Check out SYED newly updated services.

Updated services include custom packages for each of our clients.  Each package breaks down the level of design and involvement SYED will provide.  It is important for us to have a clear and cohesive breakdown of services to ensure expectations are met for our clients and our level of service is outstanding.

Because each client has different needs and some clients need more assistance, this is custom designed to suite our clients.  We don’t think every client should pay the same price for different level of services. Not all of our packages are designer based, therefore if you are looking for simply execution of your event we can provide that with our Flowers al a carte package.  Additional rentals may be necessary, therefore you can add on rentals al a carte to your Flowers al a carte package.  Designer assistance package provides an extensive amount of creative design from SYED.  For more information about our new services see below or go to our services page at www.shawnayamamoto.com

Flowers al a carte: This is for the client who knows what she wants in flowers, color and style.  This client is hands-on and ready to make this event her own, she needs us only to execute her vision.  This service would be a client directed relationship wherein we produce only flowers for your event.

Rentals al a carte: Once you have booked a Floral package, the client may request bids on certain rentals such as furniture rentals, chairs, linens, dance floor and a few other items in our or our vendor inventory. The client is responsible for determining what type of rental needs they have and communicate rental requests only to us.  We then will get you the best price at a great value and charge you retail only for these services.

Designer Assistance:  This is for the client that doesn’t know what they want and need help figuring it all out!  We will assist in determining your color palette and theme.  After that is determined, our initial brainstorming session will commence the design process. We will complete a design estimate and design boards for each of the environments.  Floor plans for each space will be drafted.  If lighting and other rental items are utilized through our services offered, we will place them into the floor plan, communicate with your lighting designer and secure rentals on your behalf.

Prices start at $500 and go up to $5000 for this service.

Love Etc., The US Grant Wedding Show

This weekend we attended and showcased a booth at the US Grant 2012 Wedding Showcase in San Diego.  The three floor, vendor filled extravagant show was compiled of all things elegant and fun.  Complementary wine and food was served as brides walked around to all the wonderful attending vendors.  Within the duration of the show, brides were entertained with a fashion forward runway show and acts by talented dancers and acrobatic artists.

For our booth, we collaborated with the talented Nahid from Wedding Elegance.  Pushing for all the great ideas that were exploding in our heads, we decided to showcase a tabletop and lounge area. Our goal was to create a cohesive look for the two areas, however focus on two different styles. The table top was our approach to attract brides who like pretty and elegant tablescapes, while the lounge décor spoke to a more modern bride.  For this design we used bright colors as magentas and red mixed with black and textured gold and silver.  We incorporated fur and animal skin within the design, creating a grey fur backdrop and finishing it with white snake skin end caps. LOVE LOVE LOVE!  We also incorporated a pop of jade within the design.  Jade is such a fun color to use as an accent color and goes well with bright colors as hues of red and magenta.

Thanks to Gene Higa Photography and Braja Mandala for the wonderful images from this show!!
